Hello everyone! Since this is only my second or third post I wanted to thank everyone for the wonderful information that is presented on this forum.

I had a question as to where I could pcik up barbless flies. I have ordered flies from Blue fly cafe but these still have the barb. Does anyone know of an online dealer that sells barbless flies?

I appears that in Colorado the DOW is trying to pass a new regulation limiting certain gold medal waters to barbless flies/hooks to reduce fishing damage.

Any help would be great.

smile.gif Unfortunately, many dealers sell their flies with the barb in place. A majority of flies they sell are tied in Thailand and Kenya. They couldn't care less about barbs. When I buy flies I debarb them before they go in the fly box and when I tie a fly to the tippet I check again. Ther are several pliers that are great for debarbing. tongue.gif In the early days when you got a barbed hook in your finger or hand it was interesting to remove it. laugh.gif Correct me if I'm wrong, but do these bass guys debarb their hooks? It always seems to me that they have a heck of a time removing the hook. rolleyes.gif Silver Doc

Good point SD. I don't believe I have ever seen one of the TV bass guys with barbless.
You might check with some of the various fly shops around the web and see if they either carry barbless or tie their own. I believe Marriott's, Blue Ribbon and perhaps House of Harrop all tie some barbless.
If you tie on your own you can actually buy barbless or do as Doc mentioned and just mash the barbs with pliers.
