Hi All, for the most part, I've been a lurker but now have a question for you folks...
I'm looking into a 1 wt. rod and need recomendations...I'm not looking to spend a ton of money since this rod probably won't really get used a ton except for some of the smaller coastal streams here in Oregon that I fish...I find that in most situations, I really don't need the 3 wt. (that's the most used rod of mine surrently) I've already got the reel and line but just need a rod to go with it...
thanks in advance,
Randy

You still need to try casting any rod to see which one suits your style the best. Once in a while you can pick up a Sage 181 SPL on e-bay for a decent price. The SPL is a real sweet rod to cast. I've heard good things about the Sage 1710-3 TXL but it's in the high end. Cabela's makes some Clear Creek Rod that's a 1 wt 7' long but I personally feel it lacks some backbone for me. Good-luck!

I've got a 6'6" one weight made by Sierra Classics that I've been using for about five years now. It's a little sweetheart that's a joy to fish and didn't cost an arm and a leg. I don't remember how to get ahold of the builder, but I'm sure you can google sierra classic fly rods if you are interested. I also fish with a Sage 0wt. SPL that's also a dandy, so I don't doubt the 1wt. is also. The only problem with the SPL is that at eight feet long it's tough to use on some small streams. I'd bet on the TXL being a winner also, but it is pricey.
