I have been thinking about purchasing one of these so I dont have to buy a bunch of different spools. I thought it would be nice for tubing on Lakes. You could use the floater tip, intermediate tip or one of the sinking tips. Thought it would be nice on rivers also, if you wanted to swing some streamers. Just about every line manufacturer makes them now. Was leaning towards the Rio Versi Tip. I have enjoyed the lines I have purchased from them so far. What do you guys think?

As far as still water, I like the full sinking lines (intermediate, Type II, Type IV, depth charge - density compensated and Type II wet cell). I bought one of the mutli tip lines for my eight weight. Like you said you don't need other spools, but I also seldom use my eight weight so it isn't worth buying more spools. These lines are good on rivers, Jim Teeny uses them all the time.
For a cheap way for everyday fishing I don't think it is the right direction though.

I've been using the Air-Flo Multi-Tip Flyline on my 7 wt rod for the past 3 years. I like this flyline and system. It works for me but I only use it a few times a year. I've heard good things about the Rio Versi Tip too. Good-luck!

hi,
ive been using the MWF system from Scierra on my double handed, and i like it very much, lets you switch between bellies, but also comes with several polyleaders, interm. sink. fast sink, so there are many combinations, also has a booklet with it so you know what combo does what.

this system also comes for single handed rods, just have a look at their site scierra.com

good luck on your choice

Anthony, I posted this same question a few months back, and the
replies ran "negative" about multi-tips. If there's a search function on
this site you might want to check it out.

Thanks for all your replies. It doesn't sound like the Multi tip lines are what I need for Lake fishing. I suppose I'll have to suck it up and buy a couple of new spools and a couple of new lines.

A1411,

I've used and don't like the multi-tip for stillwaters...too much hinge effect for me. I've used and don't like them for moving waters either...I guess I just don't like them...and getting the connection thru the guides is very irritating...
