Hey, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if they have fished either the Green or Provo Rivers in Utah, and if so, when is the best time to go. I will most likely be going early summer and dont know what to use.

Thanks, PJ

I fish the Provo twice a week. In fact I will be hitting the middle today. Very crowded, but then so is the Green. The lower Provo has the bigger fish, but they also have tubers floating down it when it gets warm, quite frustrating. Not a big river, just long. The Green is fantastic, but with the weather always changing. I would think Green, but check what flies are happening when you get there. The Cicada hatch is awesome.

I fished the middle today and caught a couple of dinks (kinda slow at first) but, then to my surprise, pulling a size 30 black midge with red rib and Orange wings. I was in the process of stripping it back to recast and was slammed with a 22" hook jaw brown. It took me quite a while to get him in, plus I was use a 4wt bamboo, so I had to gentle horse him out of the current. Got him close to shore and netted him, pulled the hook reached in my waders to get my camera figuring he was pretty tired. Right as I went to pull my camera up (still had net and fish in the water) he rolled, jumped and outta here so no picture. Bought one of those zinger tape measures though so I know he was 22". Felt good and got a good cheer from shore, It's all good smile.gif
