Hello everyone. Since this is my first post I wanted to thank everyone for the wonderful and helpful information that is presented on these boards.

I am looking for a net for my father. He is very picky as most fly fishermen are about their equipment. I have seen the posts about tropical lightning creations. What are your opinions about these nets?

Thanks,

The best! It's that simple! I would call them hierloom quality so, if you look at it that way, the net you buy now may well be yours in the long distant future! Looking even further than that, they have a 200 year guarantee so YOUR grandkids can enjoy them as can THEIR grandkids!
They are made in Hawaii by a guy who should be doing nothing else in life, he is that good at it!
This board saved me the mistake of buying an inferior net. That is what this board and it's members are about... friends making sure other friends don't make bad decisions!
Beware of other nets with American sounding names, some that have been icons in the industry for years, who now have their nets made off-shore to lower costs... for them! They cost the same to you though!, they're just not as good, probably because whoever is assembling them does not have the passion and more than likely doesn't even know what they're used for!

You cannot go wrong with Tropical Lightning!

Jackster,

Did you order direct from the guy in Hawaii or did you find the product locally? I saw an advertisement that claimed 25 nets and 4 types of net bags, but I didn't see this on their website. How long does it take for one to arrive?

Thank you all for your input. I just got done ordering the large teardrop with koa wood. I ordered directly from the tropicl lightning creations website. The website does not have those options that you mentioned but Greg will email and ask the specifics. Thanks again for the advice.

CG,

Greg said that it would take about two to three weeks for it to arrive. If it is as nice as you all say I don't think i can wait that long. maybe a trip to hawaii to pick it up is in order.

I purchased a Koa wood net from Greg (Tropical Lightning) last year and was really impressed with the looks of the net and also the quality. It's getting time for one of those cocobola ones... biggrin.gif
