Patagonia is now making an updated version of their Riverwalker wading shoe with a sticky rubber sole (like the rubber used in rock climbing shoes) instead of felt. Anyone tried 'em? Seems like it could be a sweet option for when you want just one shoe for hiking and wading when you get there....

Ok, I took the plunge and bought a pair - expect a review next month after some time in the Sierras...

Initial impression after a short session spent wading in and scrambling around small creek:

The "sticky" rubber soles are seriously impressive - it felt like I was wearing rock climbing shoes. I couldn't get my feet to slide on rocks even when I tried to. Could it be the end of felt?!? Stay tuned...
