Hello All,

When did the winston rod tube cap change?

I imagine it was a cost cutting measure - any idea how much money it saved the end purchaser?

I like the old design better. It was very unique to Winston.

Now it appears to have gone the route of the downlocking reel seat...

Remembering the good ol' days... sad.gif

For an 'Uncompromising' company, RWL sure is testing the definition!
Fewer rod tube sizes, crappy... and I do mean CRAPPY, low-bidder rod tube caps, fewer wood and reel seat choices and fewer rod size choices ( I can't believe they dropped down-locking seats as a no-cost option on their small rods!). I won't even mention the outsourced Ibis series.
They need to get away from new-age 'biz think' and get someone running that company who has the fire in the belly to keep Winston as one of the few rod companies who listen to and respond to their customers wishes.
If there was a viable option to the BIIx by any other company I wouldn't hesitate to jump ship. There isn't so I'm happily, yet unhappily stuck! cool.gif
