Thinking of getting one and would like some opinions if possible.

Thanks.

huh.gif Strange how this manufacturer starts producing these rods for different line weights, after testing the market with #5 and #8 TCR rods.
Have You test-casted any model?
What´s your opinion?

I hope we get lots of feedback!

Not familiar the that model but I have cast the 8 and 5 wt TCR's. Seemed very stiff to me. When the ad says "for those who know how to double haul" they ain't kidding. I had a hard time loading either rod on short casts.
If all you do is distance casting it may be the rod for you but I can cast a FRHP Gatti farther.

I spent a few hours with the 9', 5 wt. several times. I was looking for a 'distance' 9', 5 weight for chest thumping purposes.
It casts a long line for sure. I was also evaluating the Loomis Max Line Speed GLX at the same time. The TCR threw just a bit further WHEN the stars were aligned and the right prayers were said prior to casting. The Max threw a long line consistantly with no 'out-of-bounds' shots and much more feel and feedback.
I personally could name several rods other than the TCR I would use if fishing was my goal. If consistant distance was my goal I can name two other rods that work better in my hands consistantly, the St. Croix Legend Elite and the Max GLX.

Dunno if I answered your question directly but it was fun typing something! blink.gif

From what I've been told by those who own the TCR 5 wgt. it is a great rod with a 6 wgt. line. I've cast the TCR 690 with a 7 wgt. line and it loaded and cast as if the rod should be rated for that line weight.
My reason for asking about he TCR 696 (the 9'6" model for a 6 wgt. line) is I think it would make a great lightweight steelhead rod with a 7 wgt. line. As it's just new for 2005 along with the TCR 710 I haven't had the chance to try one yet. Hope someone on here has and can give feedback. smile.gif
