Hi folks, It,s my first post on this forum, and I have a big question for you:

I search a line for dry fly fishing and trow bombers on Atlantic salmon rivers.
You have a preference ? (wf, dt, tt...) and trade mark (Wulff, Mastery, Rio...)

My rod is a 10 feet 7 weight Gatti fr3-pa

Steeve -

I would go with a SA Mastery GPX or a Rio Grand, in a WF7F. Both are 1/2 weight heavier (thus they are 7 1/2 weights). This should help with larger lures, but will also allow you to load the rod easier at shorter distances. You might also research Airflo. The bottom line is that I have all of these brands, and lines today are so good it is difficult to go wrong. Good Luck!!

I have been using the Rio Steelhead and Atlantic Salmon line for a few years now. It is designed for the type of fishing that you will be doing: skating and swinging. The long belly on it will allow for better line control. It is only available in a weight forward taper.

Thank's for reply!!!

I'll see for the Rio Grand I think it would be my choice...I have a Mainstream from this brand in 5 weight for trout and for the price it's hard to beat!!! I have a Mastery Steelhead. It cast wonderfull for long distance wet flies and streamers and mending it is so easy...but for dry flies and bombers the long belly is heavy and the line fall too fast...

Steeve,
I throw an 8wt for Atlantic salmon, but when I am throwing a wind resistant bomber, I have been trying a Bass Taper (in my case an older Orvis Wonderline WF line) and it has worked out well - especially in a little bit of wind.

BTW, a 10 ft 7 wt ought to be fine for Atlantics in Gaspe or Miramichi waters.

Good Luck,
