I had a chance to cast a 5 weight Flight. It is built on a completely new blank. It has a lighter feel, and the tip seems a bit softer than the FLi. It still is a fairly quick rod.
I think having the softer tip on the Flight is an improvement over the Fli. It will allow for better shock absorption for protecting finer tippets.
I tried casting the rod with two different lines. It felt like a fast rod with a Rio Gold meaning I was casting it off the tip. I was able to slow it down a tad with a Rio Grande. For someone who isn't used to a quick rod or might be throwing a variety of flies (from big streamers to dinky midges), the Rio Grande would be a better line choice.

I agree with the Rio Grand. I bought a Z Axis which is a softer rod than the Flight, and the Gold didn't feel as good as the Grand.
