Could anone give me some info on a rod I just "inherited"......

It's a Scott built around the early 80's....I don't think it has ever been wet!!!!

Here is a description of the rod.....

Amber color, gold anodized reel shaft, cork handle....

Writing on the rod.....Scott PowR-Ply
8.5' - 5 3/8 oz-WF-8F
#87B-1918

As you can tell from my questions I don't fly fish!!!!!!!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
AbelBoy
The PowR-Ply rods were made throughout the 80s and 90s. From time to time, Scott will make a limited production run of select sizes. My experience with a 8'8" 8 weight revealed that it was a stiff rod with lots of butt strength. If I had a lunker bass dive directly into the weeds, there would be plenty of backbone to yank out that fish.

Your 8'6" 8 weight should be similar. It should make a great LMB, Striped Bass, Redfish, or Baby Tarpon rod. You could probably launch a whole line with that rod.

Older Scott rods like the PowR-Ply have a cult follwing to them. Some say that they cast and fish better than some of the newer models. You just got handed a great rod that I'm sure someone would love to get his hands on.
