Pablo,

What type of fishing? Both of these companies make outstanding rods. Scott's 5wt G2 is one of the nicest 5wts being produced today. The T&T LPS series includes several models that are fabulous casting fly rods. For saltwater fishing I own T&T Horizons in a 10wt, 9wt and 7wt, all my other higher weight rods have been sold. As far as customer service, warranty service and speed of getting a broken rod back to the owner, Scott Rod Co. is a far better company to deal with.

If I could only buy one rod from one of these companies, it would be the Scott G2 8'8" 5wt.

Without knowing what he wants to use it for,I'll only give a very general reply. Both companies make excellent rods.Rich likes the G2 more than I do but to be fair ,I did not fish with the G2 8'6" for 5 wt ,I only had the chance to cast it. I have a 8' for 5 wt T&T LPS that I will never get rid of. it has both power and delicacy . I also have a T&T Horizon in a heavier weight that is very nice but I don't get to fish with very much. I agree with Rich,Scott is great to deal with .
No bad choices among the two.

I agree with the others. Without more information there isn't much of an answer that we can give you. They are both good rod companies and I doubt anyone would be disappointed with either.

I've never dealt with Scott. I have one T&T Emerger 905 Flyrod. I won this at my flyfishing Christmas Raffle 6 years ago with a Teton Reel it came with. I also won a Sage 386 DS2 flyrod, Redington 2/3 Reel, XPS flyline and backing. I asked the person who donated the T&T about the warranty. He told me unless you buy it from an authorized dealer there is NO warranty! He received this T&T outfit from becoming a lifetime member of TU. As for the Sage outfit I called Sage and they said they would honor the warranty even though it did not come with one. I bet you can guess which rod company I prefer! Adding something to think about since all three rod companies build nice rods for both freshwater and saltwater.

I've also heard over and over that Sage is great to deal with on warranty work. I've never had a problem with a Sage rod, so I have no first hand experience.

I'm a big fan of Sage because they are here in Washington state. I like th idea that my rod was built by someone who drives the same roads I do.

That wouldn't matter at all to someone who wasn't in washington however.

Pete,
I did have to deal with Sage Customer Service a couple of years ago. I broke the top section on my Sage 379LL 3-PC while fishing Bishop Creek. I called Sage the day after I returned home on Monday. They were very polite and explained to me what to do. I sent it in on Tuesday and received my rod with a brand new top section the following week on Wednesday. That was an 8-day turn-a-round! It cost me only $30 plus shipping which is a bargain compared to losing the usage of a $365 rod all together! That's been my experience with Sage. Now I own 7 Sage rods and my two elder daughters have 2 Sage rods. My youngest daughter will get her Sage rod in a few years. If I do not get into saltwater flyfishing I just might be done (Knock on wood!).

T&T replaced the tip section of my 9ft 4 wt. vector this summer. I feel they did a very nice job of taking care of my repair. Scott rods are awesome too, but I've yet to break one. Fly rods are like guitars to me-it depends on what you're playing as to which one feels best.
