Instructions

Begin by putting two beads on the hook, and then wind the thread to just behind the barb, cut a thin piece of prismatic sheeting and tie the tip. In front and at the base of the sheeting dub a small ball and place a goose biot on either side for the tail continue by tying in a piece of vinyl rib for the rib. For the underbody, dub a thick tapered body 2/3 up the shank and then flatten the dubbing using pliers. Next, pull the sheeting over top and rib. Take the first bead and slide it in to the base of the body and secure it at the front.

Now is a good time to put the eyes on, start by tying a piece of thin skin 1/4" thick so that it over hangs the hook and then in front of that tie the eyes in right at the base of the hook eye, at this point tie in the antennae on either side. Next wind back to the base of the first bead and dub a small area. For the first wing case, cut a piece of thin skin to shape and tie it in, laying it flat part way down the body followed by some CDC for the legs. In front of the CDC dub a small area followed by rubber legs on each side. Next, slide the second bead to in front of the rubber legs and repeat the same steps to make the second wing case.

Now, dub up to and around the eyes. To finish, take the piece of thin skin from the front and pull it over the eyes, making a few wraps. For the final wing case, cut the remaining piece of the thin skin to just behind the start of the first one. Whip finish and head cement.
