Place a hook in the vise and bind a bed of silk up to the bend of the hook.
On the top of the hook, place the number of fibres you have decide on, pointing back. The number of fibres is dependent on hook size to balance it proportionately.Tie in a length of gold wire.
Dub your thread with hares lug, dark and light as well as long fibres. Finish with a half hitch.
Wind the gold wire up to the tie off point and tie off.
You can roughen up the body with velcro or a dubbing teazer now or leave it until you are admiring your work.
Strip your hen hackle of the webby material or until you get the hackle fibres to the length that suits the size you are tying. Wind no more than three turns round.
Take two opposite slips from a hen pheasant secondary wing feathers. Adjusted to length they should be just past the bend of the hook.
Tie in and trim off.
