Start thread towards rear of hook. Tie in 3 strands of peacock sword for tail.

If you choose to use lead wire to weight the hook, wrap it on now.

Tie in silver tinsel and 3-4 strands of peacock herl.

Wind thread forward. Hold peacock herl together with hackle pliers and twist together.

Wrap forward and tie off.

Wrap silver tinsel forward. Tie in soft hackle, wrap 2-3 times and tie off.

Tie mallard over top of hook, over hackle. Tie off, wrapping a little towards rear to create a beard.

Form head, whip finish and cement.
